Toward a Water Secure Central Texas: Understanding One Water Perceptions

Project Summary
The Meadows Center will lead a regional study examining stakeholder perceptions of One Water strategies across Central Texas. One Water—an integrated approach to managing all water sources holistically— is gaining popularity as Texas communities grow and look to vary their water resources.
It is evident, however, that some One Water techniques are more “digestible” to constituents than others, e.g., capturing rainwater to water lawns versus incorporating reuse into a public water supply. This study will explore attitudes and perceptions toward various One Water techniques, including rainwater harvesting, water reuse, and other demand-reduction strategies. Findings will inform how to effectively communicate and implement these solutions within Central Texas communities.
