2026 Student Leadership in Environmental Action Awardee: Jack Magnani

Last year, we introduced one of our newest youth programs, the Student Leadership in Environmental Action (SLEA) program, designed to empower high school students across Texas to become environmental leaders. Though we are still in the early stages of this program, we have received inspiring projects proposing solutions to challenges identified in these students’ communities.

This year, we are incredibly proud to announce Jack Magnani from Dripping Springs High School (@dshtigers) as the recipient of the 2026 SLEA Award! Their project identified excess trash and noticeable human-caused erosion at a Creekside site along Onion Creek. Jack created a plan to restore native grasses and install trash cans in the most heavily used areas to protect the creek.

Jack’s approach and dedication to environmental action set an incredible standard for future award recipients. Their project will be showcased across our website and social media platforms, inspiring countless other students to act in their own communities.

Join us in celebrating Jack’s outstanding achievement! Together, we're proving that when we empower young Texans with the right tools and opportunities, they don't just rise to the challenge—they exceed it!
